As the heat of summer dissipates, we enter into the bountiful season of transitions, Autumn. In the Northern Hemisphere, September 22 2018 marks the Autumn Equinox, the moment where the earth's equator passes through the sun. Farmer's Markets are full of the harvest of summer gardens and the earth is preparing to rest as we experience shorter days and cooler temperatures. Human beings are so attuned to nature's rhythms, that it is natural to feel drawn to harness and conserve energy, enjoying the gifts of the earth in soups, stews, pies and teas. For many, September symbolizes a time to get back to healthy routines as the carefree days of summer and ice-cream come to an end.
As a student and teacher of yoga, I can attest to how my practice has eased me into these transitions and transformed my physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health. Join me for a yoga class in my home studio, encompassing all the wisdom of my teachers as we navigate this life to create more ease in our bodies, calm in our minds and compassion in our hearts.

Yogi Chai Tea
1.Bring the water to boil
2. Add all the spices
3. Reduce the heat and simmer for

Heat up a cup and add milk and

This a great little tea with the health benefits of being good for digestion, loaded with anti-inflammatory and antioxidants! I use decaf tea for evening use.

Ayurvedic Spring Cleanse
Ayurveda is comprised of two sanskrit words "ayur" meaning life, vital power and "veda" meaning knowledge. I think of it as living in tune with the rhythms of nature. As yogis, we lean heavily into this knowledge to support us throughout life's changes. Spring is a time for cleansing the heavy kapha of winter. We eat easily digested foods to give our digestive systems a much needed rest. Email me if you would like more information.
Sort through your winter wardrobe and notice anything you didn't wear. Look around your home and notice any little "piles" that may have accumulated. Put on your favourite playlist and start sorting things into 'donate", "keep" and "trash". The process will be so freeing!!
Although,I recommend getting outside in all seasons, spring offers the unique opportunity to see all of nature's rebirths. From the early crocus peaking out beneath rotting leaves to the scurrying of chipmunks up from their winter slumber, there is much to engage all the senses on a spring walk. Enjoy the cooler temperatures before the heat of summer!

With an open heart and open mind, I embrace these words as I journey to Khajuraho India to be with my teacher. Before, that, I will be in Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Varanasi and Orchha, enveloping myself in the rich spiritual culture of these holy lands.
You see, I know what I am meant to do. My hearts desire is to fill myself with these teachings, fully embody them and bring them to all of you with authenticity. Life has presented this opportunity for me to go now. I can choose to see all the reasons I shouldn't leave for a month or I can see all the reasons I should. So, here I go.

Turmeric Ginger Tea
Couple slices or grated fresh ginger
1 Tbls Apple Cider Vinegar
1 Tsp Turmeric
1 Tsp Raw honey
1/2 tsp of Cinnamon
Pinch of black pepper(to activate the turmeric)
1 cup of hot water
My winter morning concoction. Turmeric stains so make sure you brush your teeth soon after.
You can also omit the turmeric and take a good quality supplement.
After our bitter cold winter, spring seems sweeter this year. The changing seasons are a good time to reflect on your health and fitness goals. I've had a busy few months studying to offer new ways of supporting you in your wellbeing. I completed a marma point therapy training that I am incorporating into my Thai Massage sessions. These are key points in the body that relieve stress, anxiety, joint, digestion, headaches and so much more. If you haven't been for a massage in a while, now is the time! Para Yoga Teacher Training
I continue to embrace the vast knowledge of yoga. My latest teacher training is with yogarupa, Rod Stryker. Rod's methodology of yoga asana, pranayama and meditation are exactly what I've been searching for. I'm very excited to continue my studies with him. I look forward to offering pranayama and meditation workshops in the near future.
Happy spring! It finally feels like spring is beginning to blossom. As my garden is slowly starting to awaken so too are my visions for future endeavours. For the past year, my friendship with Sarah Caranci has bloomed into a wonderful partnership of Restorative Thai Yoga Bliss. We have offered several sessions together and are finding our energies align perfectly in creating two hours of bliss for our guests. Sarah is a warm, kind soul who is opening her home studio, Studio Satya, where she will offer yoga, kirtan, special workshops and Restorative Thai Yoga Bliss sessions! Off to the garden!
So I finally figured out how to post videos and music! I just added a cool track to the website. A beautiful number by Peace Family. I hope it adds a little calm sweetness as people navigate around the site.
I'm also posting this short video I did in July 2013 for Dr. Melissa West's Living Your Yoga website. I believe you can link to it through the youtube channel. It was my first time on camera and I was super nervous but Tim and Melissa were so loving and patient that I think it turned out quite well. I feel I could do it again and add way more details that I know I left out because of my nervous tummy! I also did a Surya Namaskar A and B video for them on their membership site. It was so much fun. I may start adding more videos to my blogs now. Stay tuned!
I'm new to blogging but I love reading blogs and I think it's a great way to stay connected to our community of yogis and yoginis. So why not join in the fun? I just redid my website, learning as I go and connected it to my facebook page, although right now it seems to link to the admin page. Still working on this. I believe Social Media is assisting many small business, like myself, to build an audience for our services. It does require some time though, time I'd rather spend actually connecting "live" with people. I'm hoping I will become more efficient with the whole thing so I can get out there!
I just shot a video of a Mini Metta Massage flow that I will be posting once I figure out how to! I did it for an online retreat hosted by my friend and mentor, Melissa West's Namaste Yoga. I'll share the link when I figure how to do that as well!
Looks like I have some work to do this weekend! But it's the weekend so maybe it can wait.
